Punjab: Top Brahma Kumaris official passes away

Punjab: BK Nirvairbhai, who held important positions in Brahma Kumaris Organization besides serving as its general secretary, died at a private hospital in Ahmedabad on Thursday night at 11.30 pm. The organization’s media wing head BK Karuna said that his body was brought to Abu Road today and his last rites will be performed at Mukti Dham, Abu Road on September 22. Hundreds of people queued up in the conference hall to have the last darshan of the departed spiritual leader and offer flowers. 101-year-old Dadi Ratanmohini, head of the Brahma Kumaris organization, was among the first to reach the conference hall. Prayer meetings are being organized at hundreds of centers in Abohar and across the country and abroad.
Nirvair was born on 20 November 1938 in Mukerian, Hoshiarpur and studied at the local high school and then received higher education at DAV College, Mukerian. He had an interest in philosophy and religious books and was inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Rama Tirtha, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Radhakrishnan. He served in the Indian Navy for nine years and was also part of the Goa Liberation Movement in 1961. He played a key role as the managing trustee of the Global Hospital and Research Centre in Mount Abu, which exemplifies his commitment to promoting health and spirituality.
