Haryana: Punjab and Haryana celebrated the 77th Republic Day along with the rest of the country on Monday.
Punjab Governor and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, unfurled the national flag at the state-level function in Fazilka, while Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hoisted the tricolor in Hoshiarpur.
Haryana Governor Aseem Kumar Ghosh unfurled the national flag at the state-level function in Panchkula, while Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hoisted the flag in Gurugram.
Mann and Saini extended their greetings to the people on Republic Day.
During his address in Hoshiarpur district, Mann also paid tribute to the freedom fighters who fought for the country’s independence and said he salutes the armed forces for protecting the unity and integrity of the nation. Haryana Chief Minister Saini, in his post, paid tribute to the freedom fighters who fought for our country’s independence and the founders of the Constitution who laid the foundation of a strong republic.
Saini said, “On this Republic Day, let us resolve to actively participate in building a developed and self-reliant India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and work unitedly in the interest of the nation.”
Parades were held at district headquarters in both states, with contingents of police and home guards participating, while tight security arrangements were in place across both states in view of the Republic Day celebrations.
