Tamil Nadu : The central government has clearly informed the Madras High Court that there will be no re-examination at exam centres where there was a power outage during the NEET exam for undergraduate medical studies.
The central government has said that there will be no re-examination at exam centres where there was a power outage, as it did not have any impact on writing the NEET exam.
After this, the Madras High Court has said that it will pronounce its verdict on June 6 on the petitions filed by students, claiming that they faced problems in writing the exam due to the power cut.
The NEET (2025) entrance exam for undergraduate medical studies was held on May 4 at various centres across the country. The exam began at 2 pm, but there was a power outage from 3 pm to 4.15 pm due to heavy rains.
This caused a lot of problems to the students taking the exam at that centre. Due to this, some students who took the exam at the Avadi exam center filed a case in the Chennai High Court claiming that they need a re-examination. The students had said in the petition that due to the power outage, they had taken the exam in low light and due to distraction, they were not able to give the exam to their full potential and they need a re-examination.
While the hearing of this case is going on in the Madras High Court, the Madras High Court has ordered the Central Government, National Medical Commission and National Examination Agency to respond on the possibility of conducting the re-examination and has also put an interim stay on the release of NEET exam results till then.
In such a situation, when the case was heard again today, the central government said that since there was no problem in writing the NEET exam due to the power outage, the re-examination cannot be conducted. The Madras High Court, which made this request, has announced that it will give its verdict on June 6.
