Posing as CBI, intimidated a retired teacher and duped him of Rs 23 lakh.

Raigarh. A retired teacher was duped of over 23 lakh rupees. The fraudster, posing as a CBI officer, tricked him into investigating his bank account and deposited the money into his account in multiple installments. The incident occurred in the Pusaur police station area.

Garud Singh Patel, a 72-year-old retired teacher from Jatari village, received a call on October 10th from an unknown mobile number. The caller claimed to be a CBI officer and told him he was involved in a money laundering case. He claimed he had opened a bank account in Mumbai and would be investigated. The fraudster threatened to cooperate with the CBI investigation and not inform anyone, threatening to arrest him. He then repeatedly called, demanding he transfer the money deposited in his account to different account numbers. He was also promised that his money would be returned after the investigation. In such a situation, Garud Singh Patel deposited Rs 23 lakh 28 thousand 770 in 12 installments on different dates from October 10 to October 29 through UPI, Paytm and RTGS in the accounts mentioned.

While Sudarshan lodged a complaint with the Cyber ​​Department, Garud Singh Patel reached the Pusaur police station and filed a report in this matter. Where the police have registered a crime against the unknown accused under sections 66D-LCG, 318(4)-BNS and have taken the matter into investigation.
