Panchayat secretaries should fulfill the demand: Ramdas

Tamil Nadu: PMK founder leader S. Ramadoss has appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to meet the demands of Panchayat Secretaries.

He issued a statement on Wednesday: More than 12,500 Panchayat Secretaries are employed in village Panchayats in Tamil Nadu. They are low-paid contract workers and receive a pension of ₹2,000. Therefore, they protested and demanded a government order to change this situation and include them in the Guaranteed Pension Scheme based on their wage rate. In subsequent negotiations, the government promised to include them in the pension scheme.

However, since the government has not fulfilled its promise, Panchayat Secretaries have again joined the protests. It is unfair that action has been taken against them. He said that this should be rescinded and their demands, including inclusion in the promised pension scheme, should be met.
