Over 50 injured, 10 of them critical as Pickup van overturns in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Over 50 people were injured while 10 of them were critical as the pickup van in which they were traveling overturned in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.

A group of over 50 people from Rada village in Pallahara area of Angul district were reportedly traveling to Talajagara village of Keonjhar district this afternoon in the pickup van which has a registration no of OD 09L 6482.

However, the four-wheeler overturned near the Banspal ITI College after the driver of the vehicle lost control over it. They were going to attend a feast.

Banspal Police reached the spot of accident after getting information about it and rescued all the injured persons with the help of the locals and passers-by. Later, they also cleared the route.

All the injured persons were rushed to the Banspal Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Later, four of them were shifted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as their condition deteriorated further.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the road accident. However, it is suspected that the pick-up van turned-turtle due to overcrowded.
