Orange warning for Kalabaisakhi rainfall issued to 9 districts

Bhubaneswar: Nine districts have been issued an orange warning for Kalabaisakhi rainfall in Odisha by the MeT department.
The districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak have been issued an orange warning for Kalabaisakhi rainfall. The orange warning was issued for thunder lightning and hail storms with heavy rainfall.
The Kalabaisakhi wreaked havoc in Mayurbhanj by killing a few cattle and the roofs of some houses also blew off. Power outage and road blockades due to rain devastated human lives for three hours on Thursday.
Valid from 8.30 AM of 22.03.2025 to 8.30 AM of 23.03.2025:
ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh.
YELLOW WARNING:- (BE AWARE) Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
