Odisha: Satakosia and Bhitarkanika Reserves to remain closed on these days for crocodile census, check dates
Rajnagar: The Satakosia Wildlife sanctuary (WLS) will remain closed for the tourists from January 5 as crocodile census will begin from January 6.
The Satakosia WLS will remain closed for the tourists and fishermen from tomorrow. The crocodile census will be done from January 6 to January 8 for three days. On the other side, the DFO of Satakosia Wildlife Sanctuary informed that the boating at Mahanadi has been paused for bird census on January 17 and 18. The fishermen have been asked not to catch fishes also. For the bird census, 14 teams with 70 members will be a part of the census.
On January 14, Bhitarkanika National Park will remain closed for the tourists. The crocodile census in Bhitarkanika will take place from January 14 to January 21. The DFO Sudarshan Gopinath informed that, for the first time in the outer canal of Bhitarkanika, the census will be done.
