Odisha: Preparations underway to implement smart surveillance system in registration offices

Odisha Odisha: Odisha government has decided to implement smart surveillance system in the registration offices of the state with an aim to make land transactions more transparent and eliminate the role of middlemen. Under this system, the registration process will be brought under the ambit of digital monitoring, so that the entire system can become more secure and transparent.
In this regard, a detailed review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari. Installation of advanced CCTV-based surveillance system was discussed in the meeting. The Minister said that there is a need for an integrated monitoring system to strengthen the security framework of the registration offices, so that all activities can be better monitored.
According to the proposed plan, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will also be used in this system. With the help of AI, identification and tracking of middlemen active in and around the offices will be easy. This will help prevent unnecessary interference in the registration process.
Minister Suresh Pujari said that this smart surveillance system will be implemented in a phased manner. First it will be rolled out in major registration offices and later it will be extended to the entire revenue department including tehsil offices and Revenue Inspector (RI) offices.
He said that the use of this system will not be limited to just monitoring, but it will also track the attendance of employees, working time and their activities during field visits. This will ensure more discipline and accountability in departmental functioning.
The government believes that this step will increase transparency in the registration process and common citizens will be able to get direct and simple services without any middleman. This will also make it possible to effectively control corruption and irregularities.
In the meeting, officials suggested that all the registration offices be linked to a centralized control system, so that real time monitoring is possible. Along with this, suspicious activities can also be identified through data analytics.
According to Revenue Department officials, this technical improvement will not only speed up the land registration process but will also increase the confidence of citizens in the government system. Also, there is a possibility of a drastic reduction in the role of middlemen.
The minister also said that the government aims to develop a system in which citizens can get safe and transparent services without any hassle. He directed the department to implement this project in a time bound manner.
This decision is being considered an important step towards digital governance and administrative reforms of the Odisha government.
