Odisha: Leopard skin seized in Boudh district
Boudh: Based on reliable information, an STF team conducted a raid on January 20, 2024 and seized the leopard skin on Saturday.
The incident has been reported near Ranipathar village, Charichak under Puruna Cuttack police station area. Boudh regarding transaction/possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals.
Which resulted in the capture of a wildlife criminal Gautam Behera, 55, Kandhamal. During the search, 01 (one) leopard skin and other incriminating material was recovered from his possession.
The accused person could not produce any authority in support of the possession of such leopard skin, for which he has been arrested and will be sent to the court of JMFC, Harbhanga, District. Buddhist.
In this regard STF PS Case No. 02 dated 20.01.2024 U/s- 379/411/120(B) IPC/ r/w. It was registered under section 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. The skin will be sent to Director WII, Derhadun for biological testing. The investigation is still going on.
