NSA: US NSA Sullivan arrived in India, discussed bilateral, regional and global issues

New Delhi: US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan arrived in New Delhi on Monday on a two-day visit to India. During this, he met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and India’s NSA Ajit Doval and held extensive discussions on bilateral, regional and global issues. There was also talk of increasing defense technology and defense cooperation between the two countries.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted on X after meeting Sullivan, “Delighted to welcome US NSA Jake Sullivan in New Delhi this morning. Extensive discussions were held on bilateral, regional and global issues. Confident that the India-US strategic partnership will move forward strongly in our new tenure.”

The US NSA then met his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval. The two senior officials, who met during the G7 summit in Italy last week, continued their discussions on strategic, regional and bilateral issues, including critical and emerging technologies (ICET). Sullivan’s visit has once again established that India will continue to live up to the test of diplomacy, and engage with various countries to promote its interests. US NSA Sullivan arrived in India after attending the peace summit on Ukraine held in Switzerland over the weekend.

India also participated in the event, but kept itself away from any communiqué or document emanating from the summit. Sullivan had visited New Delhi around the same time last year. During that time he met Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and NSA Doval. The two countries had unveiled a roadmap for cooperation at an event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on taking forward the India-US partnership just before Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Washington.

Both the NSAs have acknowledged that the decision taken by PM Modi and US President Joe Biden in May 2022 to enhance cooperation between India and the US will play a decisive role in further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
