DMK, Congress don’t want women to come to power: Vanathi Srinivasan criticises

Tamil Nadu: BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has said that the Congress and DMK do not want the Lok Sabha and state assemblies to be filled with women.
A statement issued on Thursday stated: DMK leader M.K. Stalin is politicizing the central government’s legal responsibility to redraw constituencies. Stalin’s speeches on the realignment of constituencies indicate his nervousness. Increasing the number of Lok Sabha members is crucial to keeping up with the growing population. In many states, each Lok Sabha constituency has more than 3 million voters. Our country’s current population is approximately 1.45 billion. China, the second most populous country, has 2,878 members of Parliament. Therefore, these figures demonstrate the importance of redrawing constituencies.
Reserving 33% for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies is a long-standing dream of those who seek equality and democracy for women. Constituency realignment is being undertaken to make this a reality and increase the number of members. But as always, opposition parties, including the Congress and the DMK, are politicizing this issue. Vanathi Srinivasan said this proves that the Congress and DMK don’t want women to fill the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
