MP Anurag Sharma described the state budget as balanced and people-centric.

Himachal Pradesh: Rajya Sabha MP Anurag Sharma on Thursday praised the state budget, calling it “people-centric, balanced, and development-oriented.” He said the budget reflects the state government’s intent to maintain the pace of development despite limited financial resources. Speaking to media here, Sharma said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the state government has presented a forward-thinking financial roadmap, prioritizing the well-being of all sections of society, while also ensuring fiscal prudence.

He said the ₹54,928 crore budget focuses on expanding infrastructure, strengthening basic services, and accelerating welfare schemes. He added, “The government has ensured that development takes everyone along and reaches the last mile.” Sharma said that the decision to provide 300 units of free electricity to one lakh poor families will provide relief to the economically weaker sections of society. He described the monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 to eligible women as a “transformative step” towards women’s empowerment. The MP emphasized employment generation, saying the budget included provisions to fill vacant posts in the department and increase skill development efforts. He further stated, “These measures will create good employment opportunities and help retain youth in the state.”
Regarding agriculture and related sectors, Sharma described the budget as “very beneficial,” noting increased support for dairy farmers, subsidies on farming equipment, increased irrigation facilities, and a renewed emphasis on horticulture. He further stated that these efforts will increase agricultural income and strengthen the rural economy. He also welcomed provisions including relief measures and crop protection schemes for farmers affected by natural disasters, calling them timely and necessary. Sharma said that increased allocations for road, healthcare, education, and drinking water projects will help bridge regional divides and integrate remote areas into mainstream development. He added, “Despite financial constraints and recurring natural calamities, the government has demonstrated good financial management and strong leadership. Maintaining the pace of development in such circumstances reflects its commitment and administrative efficiency.”
