Mobile gaming or a trap? The danger of real cash games

Tech: Amidst the growing trend of online gaming, strict rules have now been implemented in the country regarding apps like Teen Patti, Rummy and Poker based on real money. Those playing real cash games on mobile are being told to be careful, because such platforms are considered banned under the legal ambit in many cases. In the greed of easy earning and quick money, people often stake their earnings on these apps, but ignoring the rules can lead to huge losses and legal troubles. According to the current system, the old logic of “skill game” and “chance game” has ended to a great extent. The rules clearly state that if real money is being invested in any online game and economic benefits are expected in return, then it comes under the category of “Online Money Game”. The government has taken a strict stance regarding such games and they have been considered illegal in many places. Apps running on the internet that claim to win cash come under this category. Under the rules, not only the companies making or running games, but also the promoters and people who cooperate with them come under the ambit of action. Promoting such platforms or making money transactions through them can also be considered a serious crime. In some cases, there is also a provision of punishment of three to five years and fine. Along with this, the possibility of action against users cannot be ruled out, especially when they knowingly invest money on banned platforms. At the same time, at present e-sports and social games have been kept in the recognized category in the country. E-sports are recognized as competition, whereas social games are only for entertainment and do not involve any kind of real cash transaction. These are considered safe and legal. According to experts, the real danger comes from those apps which, after free download, lure users to invest money and earn money immediately. Such platforms can not only cause economic loss but also increase the risk of data theft and fraud. Therefore, users are being advised to thoroughly check the rules and legality of any gaming app before using it and limit themselves to entertainment-based gaming only.
