Manipur: People of Tousem subdivision condemn the pathetic condition of roads

Manipur: Due to lack of proper medical facilities and extremely bad condition of roads, an ailing 35-year-old woman of Njukuak village in Tousem subdivision of Tamenglong district in Manipur was carried on a bamboo stretcher for at least 10 km for treatment. Njukuak village authority chairman Kutling Pame told media persons that the woman had to be carried on a bamboo stretcher for over 10 km before a vehicle was found to take her to a hospital in Silchar, Assam. “Unfortunately, such incidents have happened especially during the rainy season.

The road condition to reach the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Tousem headquarters is currently in a bad shape, making it a big challenge to reach even the nearest health facility,” he said. The poor road infrastructure has added to the woes of the villagers, forcing them to undertake long and tedious journeys in search of better medical care. He said, “This situation highlights the urgent need for better healthcare access and improved road connectivity to our remote communities by the concerned authorities at the earliest.” He also appealed to all concerned authorities to redress the grievances in the interest of the general public.
