Bhubaneswar: Saheed Nagar Police in Bhubaneswar arrested a married man for allegedly issuing acid attack threat to a girl, with whom he had an affair some years ago.
As allegedly by the girl, one Sunil Kumar Sethi of Chandaka area was in a relationship with her. After their break-up, he married elsewhere. However, Sethi wanted to get back to her as he has some dispute with his wife and the couple’s divorce case is subjudice in the court.
As she is not interested to be in a relationship with him again, Sunil circulated several photos which they had clicked when they were in relationship and today threatened to throw acid on her, she claimed.
However, some locals nabbed Sunil Kumar Sethi after she raised an alarm and handed him over to the Saheed Nagar Police, she added.
On the other hand, Sunil refuted the allegations and pleaded his innocence saying that his wife had managed to get his photo with the girl from his mobile phone and made it viral suspecting that he was getting back to his ex-girlfriend while their divorce case is subjudice in the court.
Sunil claimed that a dispute erupted between him and his ex-girlfriend after his wife circulated their photos and in order to solve the dispute he had gone to meet the girl today. However, she conspired and falsely accused him of issuing acid attack threats. She even thrashed him with the help of his brother, Sunil alleged.
Though it is not known who is saying the truth, either Sunil or his ex-girlfriend, the Saheed Nagar Police has arrested him and started a probe into the matter.
