Jackfruit Biryani: Ingredients
250 gms jackfruit
4 onions
1 tbsp garlic paste
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp biryani masala powder
Salt as required
6 tbsp mustard oil
2 tbsp mint leaves
1 tsp turmeric
2 cups basmati rice
1 tbsp ginger paste
4 bay leaves
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 cups water
1-2 cups finely chopped coriander leaves
1/4 cup curd
Method
To make delicious jackfruit biryani, place a large pressure cooker on medium flame. Now heat 4 tbsp oil and add bay leaves and whole black pepper to it. Add finely chopped onion and fry for a minute. Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry till the onion turns golden. Add red chili powder, salt to taste and mix well.Put the jackfruit in the pressure cooker and fry for a minute. Now cover lightly and cook for 3 minutes. Keep stirring it in between.Add biryani masala, garam masala, turmeric, curd in the cooker and mix well. Now cover it and let it cook for 3 minutes. This will help the jackfruit to absorb all the flavors and become soft.Now add rice to it, stir to mix well and cook for 3 minutes. Add water to it and close the lid. Pressure cook it on high flame till 3-4 whistles. Then turn off the flame and let the pressure cooker cool down.When the pressure cooker comes to normal temperature and all the steam is released, open the lid. Take out the jackfruit biryani and let it cool down. Place the biryani on a plate and garnish with cashews, chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves. Serve hot with raita and green chutney.
