Ludhiana: A training camp was recently organized to increase health and nutrition awareness among women farmers. 82 women farmers actively participated in the program and gained valuable information on health and nutrition. The training camp aimed to empower women farmers to make better health-related decisions in their lives and at work. Nutritionists, health workers, and agricultural advisors provided information on balanced diets, immunity building, crop and household food management, and how to manage their crops and household food.
During the camp, women were taught how proper nutrition and health management can enhance their work efficiency. This included daily diet planning, the importance of green vegetables and fruits, and ways to utilize locally available resources. Experts also explained how identifying and treating health problems promptly can improve their productivity and quality of life. Women farmers appreciated the training program, stating that it not only made them aware of health and nutrition, but also gave them the confidence to spread awareness within their families and villages. They expressed that they will now work towards adopting nutritious food and a healthy lifestyle in their fields and homes.
The local agriculture official said that such training programs are crucial for empowering women farmers. He explained that the government and local administration are making efforts to organize such programs regularly to empower women farmers in both farming and health and nutrition. A female farmer who participated in the camp said, “We now realize how paying attention to our diet and health can increase our energy and efficiency. This training was extremely beneficial for us.” Experts believe that women farmers’ health and nutrition awareness not only improves their personal lives but also has a positive impact on community and agricultural productivity. They said that women farmers should be involved in regular training, awareness campaigns, and health checkups.
