LS poll debacle: CPI wants its ministers to mend their ways

Kottayam. In the wake of LDF’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in the state, the CPI District Executive here has demanded improvement in the functioning of its ministers. According to the district executive, there is no point in blaming the Chief Minister alone. There is a need to improve the functioning and style of CPI ministers. The leaders also warned against turning a blind eye to the sentiments of the people. They also submitted an evaluation of the elections to the state unit.

The Agriculture and Civil Supplies Department in Left governments has always been famous for its performance. However, the Civil Supplies Department recently faced infamy due to its inability to procure food items in the Supplyco outlets. People felt that the civil supply system had collapsed. On the other hand, misappropriation of funds and non-payment of the paddy purchased led to resentment among farmers. The anger in the agriculture sector must be addressed. Ministers should go among the people and work at the grassroots level, the district executive said. It has also taken note of SNDP workers moving to the NDA through the BDJS. It says that such changes need to be studied in advance.
