LONDON: EVA Air flight (BR67) from Bangkok to London had to make an emergency landing at Heathrow after a passenger attempted to kill himself inside the plane’s bathroom. According to the report given by Metro, the cabin crew of the flight noticed that the passenger was inside the toilet for much longer than the normal time. Upon investigation, they found that the condition of the passenger was such that it appeared that the passenger had tried to kill himself.
The reason and identity behind taking such a big step is not yet known. After pulling the passenger out of the toilet, crew members and a doctor on board gave him first aid. Reportedly, the incident occurred on Friday and the plane landed around 7:30 pm local time, where medical personnel were waiting to take the passenger to hospital. However, there is currently no update on the condition of the passenger.
The airline, EVA Air, confirmed the incident but did not provide any further details or respond to requests for comment. Earlier, a Boeing 777 jet had to make an emergency landing after its wheel fell off in the parking lot soon after take off. The Japan-bound plane carrying 249 people was redirected to Los Angeles.
Following the incident, a video of a United Airlines plane’s wheel falling off after taking off from San Francisco International Airport into a parking lot used by airport staff is going viral on the internet. According to United Airlines, the Boeing 777 has six wheels on each main landing strut and can land safely even if any wheel is missing or damaged.
The incident comes at a time when Boeing is facing several quality control issues. Earlier, a door-sized panel of a Boeing 737 Max 9 was blown off after the jet took off in Portland, Oregon. The incident led to the grounding of all Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft for 19 days.
