Lives are being transformed by the light of good governance; the path for visually impaired Indrani has become easier than before.

Mohla. When life begins in darkness, every small support becomes a ray of light. This is the inspiring story of Indrani Nishad, a resident of Guhatola village in the Mohla development block, who has been visually impaired since childhood. Even at the age of 40, she has overcome life’s difficult challenges through her courage, patience, and self-confidence.

Indrani Nishad comes from a humble farming family with limited resources. Her entire family is engaged in agriculture. Being visually impaired, she has faced challenges at every step of her life, but she has never let her disability define her.

During the “Administration Towards the Village” district-level camp, organized under Good Governance Week 2025 in Mading Pindig village, the Social Welfare Department provided Indrani with a white cane. This assistive device will prove to be a new path to self-reliance and dignity in her life. When receiving the white cane, Indrani’s eyes reflected contentment, and her face beamed with confidence. She expressed her gratitude to the government and administration, saying that such camps bring positive changes to the lives of those in need. Indrani’s mother, visibly emotional, said that this assistance would make her daughter’s life safer and easier than before.
