Ghaziabad. To celebrate the New Year, people of Ghaziabad drank liquor worth Rs. 8 crores. About Rs 4 crore worth of liquor is sold in Ghaziabad every day. But, on the orders of the government, on the night of 31st December, the shops remained open till 11pm instead of 10pm, due to which liquor worth Rs 7.72 crore was sold on 31st December. According to the Excise Department, liquor worth Rs 6 crore 89 lakh was sold on December 31, 2022. Now on December 31, 2023, the same sales reached Rs 7 crore 72 lakh.
Revenue growth has increased by 12.03 percent in one year. On normal days, liquor shops open till 10 pm. This time the government had ordered to open shops for an extra hour i.e. till 11 o’clock. In the last one hour, liquor worth Rs 22 lakh 13 thousand has been sold in Ghaziabad. Apart from this, liquor worth Rs 134 crore has been sold in the entire month of December 2023, whereas the same figure was Rs 121 crore in December 2022. Compared to both the years, this time in the month of December, liquor worth Rs 13 crore more has been sold.
