The portals are opening from April 22, 2023 to visit the Char Dham Kedarnath, Badrinath Gangotri and Yamunotri located in Uttarakhand, which is called the “Land of the Gods”. At the same time, in view of this, the government has also started helicopter facility for the common people, whose online booking service has been started today i.e. from 8th April.
The idea behind starting this service is that now devotees will be able to reach Kedarnath Dham by walking as well as by helicopter. According to the state’s tourism department, for the convenience of helicopter travel for pilgrims going to Kedarnath Dham, online booking will have to be done by visiting the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ie IRCTC. In view of the Chardham Yatra starting soon, more than 6.34 lakh devotees have registered so far.

Tickets can be booked for a maximum of six passengers on one email ID. Apart from this, a maximum of 12 tickets, i.e. maximum 12 tickets, will be given only twice during the entire journey period on one email ID at a time. The government has taken this step to prevent black marketing of tickets.

Booking of heli services for Kedarnath this year can be done online only. This booking will be done through the official website of IRCTC. It may be noted that passenger registration is mandatory for booking Heli tickets and only local people are getting pre-registration exemption for this booking. For helicopter ticket booking, 70 per cent will be in general class and 30 per cent in tatkal class.
The pilgrimage visits the four holy places of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, which are located high in the Himalayas. The temple remains closed for about six months every year, with doors opening in summer (April or May) and darshan till the beginning of winter (October or November). The yatra will begin with the opening of the doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri on April 22, followed by Kedarnath on April 25 and Badrinath on April 27.
