Jangaon: A person attempted suicide in Jangaon Collectorate over land issue
Jangaon: Alleging that his land had been transferred to another person, a farmer of Pasaramtala village in Jangaon mandal on Monday tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide at the Collectorate here. According to reports, Nimmala Narsingrao of Pasaramtala village reached the Collectorate in the afternoon and climbed the main building and consumed pesticide. Alert security personnel immediately brought him down and rushed him to the government hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.
Narsingrao alleged that his land had been transferred to another person of his village. He demanded the government to return his land to him. Last February too, Narsingrao along with his wife Revathi had tried to commit suicide by self-immolation on the roof of the Collectorate building. That time too, the self-immolation bid was foiled by the police and collectorate staff. Narsingrao later told the media that his four-acre ancestral property was registered by the then Tahsildar Ramesh and VRO in the name of one of his distant relatives, Nimmala Yellaiah, five years ago. He said he had been running from pillar to post to get the issue rectified and get his name registered in the pattadar passbook. The then Jangaon Collector CH Shivalingaiah had asked the local revenue divisional officer (RDO) to investigate and submit a report at the earliest. The police have registered a case and investigations are underway.
