Jalandhar: Warning of arrest within a week, Rangreta Dal threatens agitation

Jalandhar: The All-India Rangreta Dal on Sunday warned that it would launch a fierce and massive agitation across Punjab if state Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, accused of making caste-based remarks against former Union Home Minister Buta Singh during the recent Tarn Taran by-election campaign, was not arrested within a week. The warning was issued during an emergency meeting convened at the Phagwara residence of the organization’s national president, Joginder Singh Mann, a former state minister. The meeting was attended by state president Joginder Singh Tiger, state committee members, and presidents of various district units. Addressing the gathering, Joginder Singh Mann—nephew of the late Buta Singh—strongly condemned Warring’s alleged casteist remarks, calling them “highly objectionable” and “an insult to a highly educated, respected, and senior Scheduled Caste leader of his own party.”
Mann expressed disappointment that, despite the seriousness of the matter, no arrests had been made. AAP state spokesperson and Phagwara constituency in-charge Harnoor Singh (Harji) Mann assured the Rangreta Dal leaders at the meeting that Waring’s arrest would be imminent. He stated that such derogatory statements against the Mazabi Sikh and Valmiki communities would not be tolerated and should be dealt with firmly. The meeting also discussed various challenges faced by the Mazabi Sikh and Valmiki communities. Mann assured the gathering that he would assist in resolving issues involving the police, civic administration, and the state government.
