Jalandhar: District Magistrate issues timings for bursting crackers during festivals

Jalandhar: District Magistrate Ashika Jain, under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, has issued specific orders regarding the use of firecrackers within the district limits, as directed by the government, in view of the upcoming festivals. In the orders issued, the District Magistrate has set the days and times for bursting firecrackers and fireworks in the district. She stated that bursting firecrackers before or after the prescribed times will be strictly prohibited.
On Diwali, which falls on October 20, 2025, firecrackers will be allowed from 8 AM to 10 PM. On Gurupurab, November 5, the permitted times are from 4 AM to 5 AM and from 9 AM to 10 PM. Similarly, on Christmas Day, between December 25 and 26, firecrackers can be lit from 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM, and the same timings will apply on New Year’s Eve, December 31. The District Magistrate further clarified that the use of firecrackers will not be allowed within 100 metres of silent zones like hospitals, educational institutions, courts and religious places.
