Jalandhar: Inderjeet Paintal (53) is truly a multi-talented personality, donning many hats. He’s an engineer, businessman, author, radio anchor, podcaster, and, most recently, a therapist. Recently cured of thyroid cancer, Paintal believes that most chronic illnesses can be alleviated by cleansing the inner self, releasing emotional baggage, adopting a positive mindset, and devoting time to personal growth. With this agenda in mind, he began weekly sessions called “The Space” at his SCO in Urban Estate, Phase 2 Market. According to Paintal, the name means creating space within oneself for peace, tranquility, and creativity. Every Tuesday or Friday, depending on the convenience of the attendees, Paintal conducts 90-minute sessions for approximately 100 people, including doctors, psychiatrists, police officers, and others. During these sessions, he writes a story himself, distributes copies to everyone present, reads it aloud paragraph by paragraph, and discusses it with the group to understand how everyone understands it. “When I was diagnosed with cancer, I became more spiritual and immersed in self-discovery. I believe this happened because God created a mission for me based on my experiences,” says Pental. “I mentor people, guide them, and teach them how to overcome personal trauma and fear. We also spend time meditating during the sessions. Visitors often tell me that the sessions have become addictive and they attend despite their busy schedules. Some mothers even say that the sessions have helped them stay calm in their daily routines, so much so that they don’t get overwhelmed even if their house is a complete mess.”
Despite adopting this new role, Pental hasn’t given up his previous work. “I start my day with meditation, followed by a walk with my dog, a little rest, and a healthy breakfast. I spend 5-6 hours on my business, after which I get down to my creative work. I write stories and podcast. After receiving feedback from listeners abroad that my voice is soothing and helps with meditation, I also launched my Spotify channel, ‘Healspa.’” Pental isn’t the only one in his family who is a good speaker and communicator. “My better half, Simran Pental, is my co-conspirator in everything I do. If I write a book, she is my editor. If I write a story, she fine-tunes it. She sits in on the session and helps me with everything. The session ends with a tea/coffee round and a slice of cake she made,” he says.
