Jalandhar: Attackers opened fire at the store, demanded Rs 5 crore from the owner

Punjab: At least 15 bullets were fired by some unidentified assailants at a mobile phone showroom located on Bus Stand Road in Kapurthala this morning. The incident has sent shockwaves across the district. The assailants handed over a slip bearing the names of two Haryanavi gangsters and demanded a hefty sum from the shop owner. They then fled from the spot. Police say the firing was apparently done to extort money, but nothing can be said with certainty yet. Two unidentified bike riders (with their faces covered) came to the area. They parked their bikes at a distance and walked into the Malhotra Infocom (MIC) showroom around 10 am. They then fired at least 15 bullets at the showroom, shattering the glass panes. However, no one was injured in the incident.
The incident has been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the store. After firing the shots, the masked men handed over a slip to the employees and fled. The paper bears the names of Haryanavi gangsters Kaushal Chaudhary and Saurav Gandoli. They have allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore from the store owner. Kapurthala police said the attack was an extortion attempt. An FIR has been registered against the attackers at Kapurthala’s Urban Estate police station. Police said the attackers had .32 bore pistols and fired 15-16 rounds. Kapurthala SP (Investigation) Sarabjit Rai said, “The paper handed over to the showroom staff by the attackers had the names of gangsters Kaushal Chaudhary and Saurav Gandoli, both of whom are in jail, written on it. The attackers also demanded money from the store owner while speaking in Haryanvi language. The store owner had not received any threatening call from any gangster before this incident.”
