Uma Harthi said that she got the main inspiration from her father and it was because of the support of the family that she could achieve this rank. The Superintendent of Police of Uma Narayanpet, a resident of Nalgonda district of Telangana, N. Venkateshwarlu’s daughter. A graduate in Civil Engineering (B.Tech) from IIT-Hyderabad, she stood third in rank with Anthropology as her optional subject. He first chose geography as a subject, but later he studied anthropology. Sharing his thoughts on the secret of his success, he said, “This exam process requires emotional support. Be it a man or a woman, one can achieve this success with the support of family.” “Information, materials and books are all freely available, but emotional support and family support will not be available. This is important,” he added. Uma advised students who are thinking of committing suicide after failing in their exams not to despair, “Take inspiration from wherever you find it. If my story helps, use it. I have been studying for five years. I have seen many failures in the process. My parents believed in me and I continued my studies, which is my duty and I have seen the result.” She said that from the beginning her aim was civil services and after graduation she did not take up a job but stayed at home to prepare for the exam and was supported by her parents. The police officer’s daughter also revealed that she did not expect to get the third rank. “I was expecting to get any rank, but I did not expect to get the third rank,” she said.
