International Forest Day celebrated in Tarn Taran

Punjab: Nishan-e-Sikhi, Khadur Sahib celebrated International Forest Day on Thursday under the chairmanship of international environmentalist Baba Seva Singh, Pradhan, Kar Seva Sampradaya, Khadur Sahib. Guru Nanak Dev Smriti Van No. 290 was constructed on this occasion.

Kar Seva Sampraday has completed 25 years in the campaign to save the environment by planting trees. The sect has gained international recognition as it is being invited to seminars and other meetings by organizations affiliated with the United Nations. The special guest of the function, Nirmaljit Singh Randhawa, Chief Conservation Officer, Chief Forester, Punjab, in his address appreciated the services of Baba Sewa Singh in the field of saving the environment. He discussed the schemes of the state government to promote tree plantation and advised the farmers to take advantage of the schemes. He said that wildlife is also a great alternative to traditional crops. Krishna Kumar, Financial Commissioner, Forest and Wildlife Conservation Department, also addressed the occasion and stressed on saving the environment.
Baba Seva Singh talked about the sect’s plantation drive and thanked the farmers for giving land to the sect to plant trees.
