Indore: The aim of this campaign is to ensure patient safety and cleanliness in the affiliated hospitals.

Madhya Pradesh: MGM Medical College is spending several lakhs of rupees every month to tackle the growing rat problem at MY Hospital and other affiliated hospitals.

These measures have been intensified following incidents in August when patients admitted to MY Hospital were reportedly bitten by rats, raising serious concerns about patient safety and hospital hygiene.

To address this problem, the college has hired a professional pest control agency to manage rats in all its affiliated hospitals. Officials stated that the agency is paid approximately 2.70 lakh rupees per month under contract. Pest control operations are being carried out at MY Hospital, Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital, Cancer Hospital, Super Specialty Hospital, MTH Hospital, INHS, and other institutions run by the medical college.

An eight-member pest control team has been deployed for continuous monitoring, focusing on blocking rat burrows, controlling access routes, and ensuring regular inspections of wards and departments. A four-member monitoring committee has also been formed to review the quality of work and oversee daily operations.
