UTTARAKHAND: The monsoon has intensified once again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts of the state. In view of the continuous rain, the State Disaster Management Secretary has instructed officials in all districts to remain vigilant around the clock and stay fully prepared to handle any emergency situation.
Heavy rainfall in mountainous regions raises concerns regarding landslides, rockfalls, road blockages, and rising water levels in rivers and streams. The administration has urged the public to heed weather warnings and avoid unnecessary travel.
Likelihood of Heavy Rain in Several Districts
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas across Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and adjacent mountainous regions. Strong thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also expected in some places.
Persistent rain poses a risk of landslides and road closures in vulnerable areas. The administration has directed local officials to keep a close watch on the situation.
Disaster Management Department on High Alert
The State Disaster Management Department has instructed all district administrations, the police, SDRF, NDRF, and relevant departments to remain fully alert. Officials have been directed to:

- Continuously monitor vulnerable areas.
- Immediately initiate relief and rescue operations in the event of an emergency.
- Keep necessary machinery and resources ready.

Special Focus on Char Dham Yatra
Special monitoring is being conducted along the Char Dham Yatra routes due to the heavy rainfall. Machinery and relief teams have been pre-positioned in areas prone to landslides. Pilgrims are advised to check weather and road conditions before commencing their journey.
