TG now on BJP’s radar: NRR

Hyderabad: A day after lashing out at the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi, accusing them of acting in cahoots with the Majlis, who are allegedly playing vote bank politics and are into “Islamisation’ of Hyderabad by creating anarchy, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Telangana unit chief N Ramchander Rao sounded the poll bugle for BJP to attain power in Telangana, calling on the rank and file of the party to prepare for a long-drawn fight against the “anti-people governance designs of the Congress and the BRS.

Addressing the Hyderabad Central District Executive Committee on Sunday, Rao called upon the district president and the party cadre to take to the streets and launch intense agitations over local public issues, the poor condition of roads, and the failures of the administration and the government. After several key resolutions aimed at fighting for public issues were adopted during this executive meeting, Rao said the Congress is trying to gift the city to the Majlis by trifurcating the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

“The Congress government is conspiring out of fear that the BJP might triumph in Hyderabad city,” he observed. He criticised the move to split Hyderabad into three parts—after expanding the GHMC limits to 300 wards— and reasoned that it is driven by the Congress’ apprehension that the BJP might capture the Mayor’s seat. He expressed his strong indignation, stating that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy devised the strategy to carve out Malkajgiri and Cyberabad solely to benefit the Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) party, effectively attempting to gift Hyderabad to them. However, Rao expressed his confidence that if elections were held in Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, and Cyberabad in the future, the public would support the BJP, enabling the party to secure the Mayor’s post. He recalled instances from past elections to local bodies in which the Congress, BRS, and Majlis parties had colluded covertly. He criticised the Congress government for engaging in the politics of minority appeasement.

The BJP state unit chief charged that “the HYDRAA’s predatory actions hinder Hyderabad’s progress”, and said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s claim of his admiration for Hitler is reflected in his administration’s style. Rao recalled how strong objections were raised at HYDRAA “targeting the poor first—demolishing their homes—while sparing large institutions like Fatima College”. He pointed to allegations that ‘HYDRAA’s policies were introduced solely to convert industrial land into real estate and to profit from the real estate sector”. Further, concerns were expressed that ‘HYDRAA’ would ultimately stall Hyderabad’s development.
