IIT: offers scholarships to several meritorious students every year. Some scholarships are provided in the form of fee concessions, while in the case of other scholarships, the amount is deposited directly into the respective bank accounts. The scholarships offered to students are Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, James Thomson Scholarship, Inspire SHE Scholarship and Dr. Surendra K Goyal and Mrs. Kusum Goyal Scholarship. Merit & Means Scholarship
The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate students. College students eligible for this scholarship receive Rs 1,000 for 10 months with a full tuition refund. Postgraduate students also received Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months. Only regular full-time students are eligible for this scholarship. Students who are enrolled in the dual program can apply for this scholarship only during their fourth year.
Eligibility Criteria to avail this scholarship:
Candidates must belong to General, General (EWS) or OBC category.
Candidates must be a student of B.Tech, B.Arch, Integrated Dual Degree, Integrated Master of Technology, Integrated Master of Science and Bachelor or Master’s Programme who has secured admission through JEE Advanced or Joint Entrance Examination for Master’s degree.
Parents’ annual income should be less than Rs 5 lakh.
Candidates who wish to apply for this scholarship must have a CGPA of at least 7. (Not applicable for new students)
James Thomson Scholarship
To be eligible for James Thomson Scholarship, candidates must be a student of B.Tech, B.Arch, Integrated Dual Degree, Integrated Master of Technology, Integrated Master of Science and Bachelor or Master’s Programme. Candidates must take admission through JEE Advanced or Joint Entrance Examination for Masters. Only candidates who come within the 250th rank in JEE Advanced are eligible for the scholarship.
Inspire SHE Scholarship
The full name of this scholarship is Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education. Under this scholarship, students who pass class 12 and pursue higher education get Rs 80,000 per year. Both undergraduate and integrated postgraduate students are eligible for the scholarship. Candidates pursuing higher studies in subjects like mathematics, chemistry, physics, astronomy, electronics, botany and zoology can apply for this scholarship. Additionally, the age of the candidates should be between 17 to 22 years.
Dr. Surendra K Goyal and Smt. Kusum Goyal Scholarship
This scholarship is provided to engineering students who are from economically weaker families. Each student gets Rs 2 lakh per year under this scholarship. Candidates who want to apply for this scholarship must have at least 7.5 CGPA every year. General and OBC category candidates studying in the first year of B.Tech are eligible for this scholarship. Also, the annual family income of the candidates should not exceed Rs 6 lakh.
