Hyderabad: BRS leader and former MLA Putta Madhu on Monday said that Congress MLAs were exploiting natural resources in Manthani. He hit out at minister and Manthani MLA D Sridhar Babu, accusing him of being involved in sand and soil mafia. He criticised officials for allowing unhindered movement of sand and stressed the urgent need to stop the destruction of natural resources in Manthani. “Congress MLAs are plundering our natural resources. Minister Sridhar Babu is promoting illegal sand and soil extraction in the constituency,” he said.
Speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday, Madhu said the six-month rule of the Congress has exposed it as a fraud government which has failed to fulfil its promises. Highlighting irregularities in mining activities, he said around 100 trucks of sand were being transported as against the sanction of one vehicle. “Money meant for government revenue is going into the pockets of Sridhar Babu’s family members,” he said. Madhu said that Sridhar Babu, who spoke against the sand mafia before the elections, is now promoting the same illegal activities. Madhu said that despite the orders of the National Green Tribunal, no rules are being implemented in Manthani. He called for immediate action to protect the natural resources of the area and hold those responsible accountable.
