Chaat made from Idli is very much liked in South Indian food. Apart from being tasty, idli chaat is also very healthy. Idli is often eaten in breakfast, it is tasty as well as healthy. Ingredients to make Idli Chaat
Semolina (rava) – 1 cup
Curd – 1 cup
Rai – 1 tsp
Green chili chopped – 1
Curry leaves – 8-10
Cashew – 1 tbsp
Baking powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 1 tsp
salt – as per taste
for tempering
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 8-10
Rai – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Green chili – 1
Oil – 1 tsp
salt – as per taste
to lick
Curd – 1 cup (beaten with cumin, black salt, sugar)
Onion chopped – 1 tbsp
Tomato chopped – 1 tbsp
Green Chutney – 2 tbsp
Tamarind Chutney – 2 tbsp
Pomegranate seeds – 1 tbsp
Sev – 1 tbsp
Idli Chaat Recipe
To make Idli Chaat, we will first prepare Idli. For this, add rava and a little salt in a vessel and mix well. After this add curd to the rava and mix it well and keep the mixture aside for half an hour. Now put 1 tsp oil in a pan and heat it. After the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, finely chopped green chilies, curry leaves and fry them for a few seconds. Add chopped cashew nuts to the pan and fry till they become light golden.
Now add this mixture to the prepared idli batter and mix. After this add some water to the batter and prepare the perfect batter for idli. After this add baking powder to the batter. Now take an idli pot and after applying some oil in its moulds, put idli batter in it and cook for 10-15 minutes. When the idli is ready, take it out of the pot and keep it in a bowl. When the idli remains slightly warm, cut it into pieces. Now put 1 tsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds crackle, add chana dal, curry leaves, green chillies and fry them. Add the chopped idli pieces to it and mix well with a ladle. After cooking for some time, turn off the gas and take out the idli in a bowl. Now put the tempering idli pieces in a vessel and add curd to it. Now add finely chopped onions and tomatoes to it. Add green chutney and tamarind chutney on top. Then again add curd from above and mix. Finally, serve delicious idli chaat by adding pomegranate seeds and sev.
