To make Dal Vada, 1 cup gram dal, 2 green chilies, 2 red chilies, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp fennel, 1 medium sized onion finely chopped, 1 sprig curry leaves finely chopped, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste Take salt as per taste and oil for frying. Let us now know the method of making Dal Vada.

Soak gram dal well in water for 3-4 hours. Then after getting wet, take out all the water and wash it four to five times with good water. Now take out 1 or 2 tbsp of gram dal and keep it separately and put the remaining dal in the blender. Now add green chillies, red chillies, cumin seeds and fennel to it and grind the lentils coarsely. Try mixing it without water but if needed add a spoon or two of water while grinding.
Now take out the dal in a bowl and put the soaked dal of unground gram in it. Also add salt, finely chopped coriander, onion and ginger garlic paste. Now mix all these things well and take a little batter in your hand and give it the shape of a round tikki. Then heat oil in a pan and fry these dal tikkis till they become golden from both the sides. Your hot Dal Vada is ready. Serve them with tomato sauce or green chutney.
