Housing starts in Canada grew 30% in April

World World: Housing construction in Canada accelerated sharply in April. According to the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts jumped 30% to 2,78,606 units in April, from a revised 2,14,205 units in March.

Experts had forecast the construction rate to rise to only 2,27,500 units this month, but the actual figure turned out to be much higher than expected. The increase shows that the housing development sector is regaining momentum, possibly due to improved weather and potential policy support that have boosted construction activity.
