Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on Gaurav Gogoi on March 23. He questioned Gogoi’s leadership within the Indian National Congress and, making a controversial remark, stated that he “should go to Pakistan.”
Speaking in Golaghat, the Chief Minister criticized Gogoi’s recent comments, asserting that they demonstrate his inability to manage leaders within the Congress party and retain them in its fold.
Sarma remarked, “The question is: why are you unable to retain anyone in the Congress? You are proving yourself to be a failed leader. This is the first time I have witnessed a leader admitting that he cannot prevent people from leaving his own party.”
Escalating his criticism further, he made a remark that is likely to spark a political controversy. He stated that “it would be better for him to go to Pakistan.”
These comments come amidst the intensifying political rhetoric between the BJP and the Congress ahead of the Assam Assembly elections. Both parties are trading sharp barbs over issues related to leadership, defections, and governance.
