High-level investigation on Ranchi hospital

Ranchi: The matter has gained momentum after the death of a patient in Raj Hospital and allegations of charging a huge bill of Rs 22 lakh in the name of treatment. On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the district administration has started a high-level investigation. The investigation team is being led by project officer Manisha Tirkey. As soon as the team reached the hospital, there was panic in the management and investigation of many documents was started. The matter came to light when social media and family members alleged that the patient was admitted to Raj Hospital with a leg fracture. Family members say that proper treatment and dressing were not done in the initial days, due to which serious infection spread in the wound. As the infection increased, the patient’s condition deteriorated and he died during treatment. The family members have also alleged that the hospital collected a bill of about Rs 22 lakh in the name of ICU and treatment, but despite this the patient could not be saved. However, the administration has clarified that these allegations will be confirmed only after the investigation report comes. Taking the matter seriously, Chief Minister Hemant Soren ordered Ranchi Deputy Commissioner for immediate investigation. He wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that the matter should be investigated in depth and strict action should be taken against the culprits. After this, the district administration took immediate action and sent the team to the hospital. The investigation team inspected the OPD, administrative block and related wards of the hospital. Besides, the patient’s case history, documents related to treatment, billing details and CCTV footage are being examined. Officials say that if the investigation confirms medical negligence or irregular billing, then strict legal action will be taken by registering an FIR against the concerned doctors and the hospital management. Even action to seal the hospital is possible based on the report.
