Heavy rains in Delhi, relief to people from scorching heat

New Delhi (IANS) | Delhiites got respite from the scorching heat on Friday as it rained in some parts of the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light rain and thundershowers accompanied by strong winds. IMD tweeted New Delhi’s Vivek Vivar, Red Fort, Preet Vihar, Rajiv Chowk, India Gate, Akshardham, Palam, Safdarjung, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium, Vasant Vihar, RK Puram, Defense Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Vasanj Kunj, Hauskhas , Malviya Nagar, Kalkaji, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur, Ayanagar were forecast to receive light to moderate rain and strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Noida, Dadri, Gurugram and Manesar from Delhi. At the same time, rain was predicted in UP’s Jahangirabad, Anupshahar, Shikarpur, Aligarh, Iglas.

Earlier this week, a private agency predicted light rain in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday and Friday under the influence of Cyclone Biporjoy.

The IMD said that Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius on Friday, while the maximum temperature is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius.
