Karnataka: Heavy rain and strong winds lashed Bengaluru. This led to flooding, fallen trees and major traffic jams across the city. The rain helped cool down the weather a bit, with the temperature settling at 32 degrees Celsius, which is below normal for this season.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Bengaluru received 34.2 mm of rainfall. Some areas like HAL Old Airport and Bengaluru Urban received even more rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for other places in Bengaluru and Karnataka, warning that more rain and strong winds (30-50 kmph) are expected till Thursday. Rains wreaked havoc in some areas of east Bengaluru. These places include Whitefield, Marathahalli, Hebbal and Banaswadi, where roads were inundated and traffic was heavy. Manyata Tech Park was one of the worst affected areas. Workers shared images of flooded roads on social media. One person wrote, “Another year, same story! Heavy rain = flooded roads in Manyata Tech Park. Roads are flooded, traffic is disrupted and work is affected. How long will this continue?”
