Atiq’s son Aban laid to rest.

Prayagraj. Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of mafia don Atiq Ahmed, was laid to rest on Saturday evening at the Kasari-Masari graveyard in Prayagraj. He was buried near the graves of his father, Atiq Ahmed, and other family members. After a wait of nearly two days, Aban was given a final farewell in the presence of family and close associates. Aban had died in a road accident in Jhansi, following which his body was brought to Prayagraj.

His elder brothers, Umar Ahmed and Ali Ahmed, were granted parole by the Allahabad High Court to attend the funeral. Both brothers are lodged in separate jails. Following the court’s permission, they were brought to Prayagraj under tight police security; Umar is lodged in Lucknow Jail and Ali in Jhansi Jail. The High Court had granted them permission to attend their younger brother’s funeral on humanitarian grounds.

Massive Crowd Gathers Outside the Graveyard

As news of Umar and Ali’s arrival in Prayagraj spread, a large number of people began gathering outside the Kasari-Masari graveyard. The crowd swelled rapidly, creating a chaotic situation at the scene. Police had to intervene multiple times to control the crowd. According to reports, a large number of police personnel were deployed to ensure security around the graveyard.

The crowd grew even larger after Umar’s arrival. People tried to catch a glimpse of him and get closer to the funeral proceedings, leading to pushing and shoving. The police attempted to push the crowd back and maintain order. When the situation threatened to get out of hand, the police had to use mild force to control the crowd.

Both Brothers Arrive Under Tight Security

The police and administration were already on alert regarding Aban’s funeral. Security arrangements were further tightened due to the arrival of Umar and Ali from jail. Both brothers were escorted to the graveyard under police protection. The High Court had also directed that neither of them speak to the media during their parole. Upon reaching the graveyard, the two brothers participated in their younger brother’s last rites. Other family members and close associates were also present at the funeral procession. According to reports, Umar, Ali, and their brother Azham shouldered Aban’s bier. Subsequently, Aban was laid to rest in accordance with religious rituals.

Buried near the graves of Atiq and Asad

Aban was buried in the Kasari-Masari graveyard near the grave of his father, Atiq Ahmed. The graves of Atiq’s brother, Ashraf, and his son, Asad, are also located in this same graveyard. Consequently, special attention was paid to security arrangements during Aban’s funeral.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj in 2023. That same year, Atiq’s son Asad died in a police encounter in Jhansi. Now, the family has faced another tragedy following Aban’s death in a road accident.

Final farewell after a two-day wait

It took time to bring Aban’s body to Prayagraj and make preparations for the funeral following his death. The final farewell could only take place after two days due to the need for other family members to be present and the procedural requirements for granting parole to the brothers imprisoned in jail. Umar and Ali were able to attend the funeral after receiving permission from the High Court.

A large crowd gathered outside the graveyard during Aban’s final farewell. The police had stepped up surveillance in the area to maintain security. Ensuring the safety of the two brothers brought from jail, alongside crowd control, was a major responsibility for the police.

After the funeral proceedings concluded, Umar and Ali were escorted back under police security. The parole granted by the High Court was for a limited period. Police and administrative teams remained present at the site throughout the entire event.

With Aban being laid to rest, another tragic chapter was added to the family’s history. Following the deaths of his father Atiq and brother Asad, the death of Aban has now plunged the family into deep shock. Meanwhile, the presence of Umar and Ali at the funeral and the massive crowd that gathered outside the graveyard kept this event a major topic of discussion in Prayagraj throughout the day.
