Health department said there is no case of monkeypox in Manipur
Manipur: The state health department on Monday clarified that there are no confirmed cases of monkeypox in Manipur so far. In a fresh release, Director of Health Services Dr O. Sanhanabi Devi said that as per the report of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Jiribam, three cases with multiple skin lesions including two from Assam and one from Jiribam were admitted to the District Hospital/CHC Jiribam on Friday. Following this, the Directorate of Health Services informed the medical team to conduct further investigation and take necessary action, the statement said. It claimed that skin lesions, blood samples, nasal swabs and oral swabs of the patient from Jiribam were taken and the required samples were sent to the state-level VRDL, Department of Microbiology, Guwahati Medical College and Hospital on Sunday for confirmation of monkeypox virus. It said the result came negative for monkeypox virus. It also said that no more such cases have been reported in the state.
