More than 1.60 lakh teachers appeared in TET Paper-2 examination in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has seen a large number of teachers participate in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The TET Paper-2 exam, conducted for graduate teachers, was conducted at 613 examination centers across the state on Sunday, with a total of 160,929 candidates appearing. This attendance represented 95.94 percent of the total registered candidates, reflecting the high level of seriousness and participation in the exam.

According to a press release issued by the Teacher Eligibility Test Board (TET), a total of 167,743 serving teachers were approved for this exam. The exam is being conducted for teachers working in government and government-aided schools in the state. This exam is being linked to teaching qualifications and promotion in service.

It is noteworthy that following a Supreme Court order, the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has now been made mandatory for working as a teacher in schools and for obtaining promotion. In compliance with this, the TET Board in Tamil Nadu is conducting the exams in a phased manner.

In the same vein, the TET Paper-1 exam for secondary teachers was conducted earlier on Saturday. 59,535 candidates participated in this exam. The high participation of teachers in both Paper-1 and Paper-2 shows that the state’s education department is taking this process seriously.

The exam aims to ensure that school teachers meet minimum academic and professional standards. This system has been implemented to improve teacher quality and strengthen the education system.

The TET Paper-2 exam is conducted specifically for graduate-level teachers who are considered eligible to teach in higher classes. The exam questions address teaching ability, subject knowledge, and teaching methodology.

Strict security and surveillance arrangements were made across the state during the exam. Administrative officers and invigilators were deployed at all exam centers to ensure a peaceful and transparent examination process.

According to the Education Department, the TET will be further streamlined and comprehensive in the future, ensuring the equitable assessment of the qualifications of all serving and new teachers.

No official date has been announced for the exam results, but the department will begin the evaluation process soon. Once the results are released, the process of teacher qualification and promotion will proceed.

Overall, this phase of the TET exam in Tamil Nadu is being considered an important step towards improving the quality of the education system, with the participation of thousands of teachers making it even more effective.
