Gohana: A postmaster (postman) robbed people’s accounts in Gohana, Haryana. The postman has absconded with lakhs of rupees from the accounts. The postmaster of the post office of Sikandarpur Majra village of Gohana carried out the incident and withdrew Rs 13.37 lakh from the social security pension accounts in about two and a half years by using fake thumb impressions of 25 dead people. Accused postmaster Sunil Kumar has committed this embezzlement by using fake thumb impressions and making false witnesses. The inspector of the postal department has lodged a complaint with the police against the accused postmaster. The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.
In the complaint given to the police, the inspector of the postal department office of the Government of India, Ministry of Communications, told that Sunil Kumar, a resident of Mahmoodpur, is working as a postmaster in the post office of Sikandarpur Majra. He has embezzled Rs 13.37 lakh from 25 accounts from 19 March 2019 to 2 September 2021 from the social security pension accounts after the death of the pensioners by using fake thumb impressions, false signatures and false testimony on various dates. Also, simple and criminal interest is due on the accused.
The accused has not yet deposited the money in the government account. Not only this, a departmental inquiry of the previous work of the accused is also going on by the department. Inspector in charge of Sadar police station of Gohana said that a case has been registered against the postmaster under various sections on the statement of the Inspector of the Postal Department. Police is investigating the matter.
