Mahasamund. Ganja worth Rs 16.60 lakh has been seized from 3 smugglers in Mahasamund district. All three of them were carrying out interstate smuggling. They were trying to bring ganja from other states and consume it in the district. At present, a case has been registered against the three smugglers under the NDPS Act, they have been arrested and sent on judicial remand. According to the information, Singhoda police has recovered 30 kg of ganja worth Rs 15 lakh from two smugglers riding on a motorcycle from the check post of the interstate border. In the second smuggling case, Basna police has seized 8 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.60 lakh from a youth from the bus stand.
On Wednesday, Singhoda police received information from an informer about Maharashtra passing bullet number MH – 16 DH 0322 and ganja carrying ganja on a motorcycle without number from Odisha side. Taking action on this, both were stopped at the check post. In this, Anil Bhor (23 years) and Prashant Athani (27 years) said to be residents of Sakin Ahmednagar (Maharashtra). When the bags of both were searched, 30 kg of ganja was recovered from the bag. The value of the seized ganja is said to be Rs 15 lakh. Both were going to Maharashtra with ganja from Balangir in Odisha. One Bullet and another motorcycle, 2 mobile phones have been seized by the police from them. In the second case, during patrolling, Basna police arrested Akash (25 years), a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, who was roaming with ganja from the bus stand. 8 kg ganja worth Rs 1.60 lakh kept in a sack was found from him. The police have arrested both the three on charges of ganja smuggling and sent them on judicial remand.
