‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ won three technical awards at the 23rd IIFA

ABU DHABI (IANS) | Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ won three technical awards at the Indian Film Academy and Awards (IIFA) Rock Night, which opened the three-day 23rd edition of IIFA at Yas Island on Friday night. The film’s awards were for Cinematography (Sudip Chatterjee), Screenplay (Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashisht), and Dialogue (Utkarshini Vashisht and Prakash Kapadia).

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was followed by Anees Bazmee’s horror comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, winning two awards for title track (Bosco Caesar) and sound design (Mandar Kulkarni) choreography.

Editing Ajay Devgn’s crime thriller ‘²Shyam 2’ as well as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s action adventure ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’, Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ and Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi And ‘Monica O My Darling’ starring Radhika Apte received the award.

The awards were announced at an evening of musical performances by Amit Trivedi, Badshah, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhbir Singh, Palak Muchhal and Yulia Vantur Shobha, presented by choreographer and director Farah Khan and Rajkumar Rao.

The music program started with a dance performance by Palak Muchhal, followed by Farah Khan who also performed on the platform. Rajkummar Rao took the stage playing Main Hoon Na and the two recreated a scene from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, greeting the crowd and having a fun conversation about friendship.

Sunidhi Chauhan and Badshah, starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet Singh and Nora Fatehi, gave a power-packed performance later in the evening. Amit Trivedi enthralled the audience with his soulful voice while performing along with Arun Kamat, Devendra Palse, Meghna Mishra and Yashita Sharma.
