New Delhi: In the 128th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “superhit month” for Indian sports and praised the many major achievements of athletes from different sports.
In his speech, the Prime Minister first congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on winning the ICC Women’s World Cup and highlighted India’s best-ever performance at the Deaf Olympics in Tokyo, where the country won an impressive 20 medals.
In his speech, he said, “This month has been a superhit for sports in India. The month began with the Indian women’s team winning the ICC Women’s World Cup. But even after that, there has been more action on the field. Just a few days ago, the Deaf Olympics took place in Tokyo, where India achieved its best-ever performance, winning 20 medals.”
Another major success was achieved by the women’s kabaddi team, which won the Kabaddi World Cup title. India dominated the tournament from start to finish, winning all of their group stage matches and then defeating Iran 33-21 in the semi-finals to reach the final, where they defeated Chinese Taipei 35-28.
India also performed brilliantly in the World Boxing Cup Final held in Greater Noida, winning 20 medals, including nine gold, six silver, and five bronze medals.
PM Modi said, “Our women athletes also created history by winning the Kabaddi World Cup. Their stellar performance throughout the tournament won the hearts of every Indian. Our athletes also performed brilliantly in the World Boxing Cup Final, where they won 20 medals.”
However, what attracted the most attention was the Indian women’s team’s unbeaten run in the Blind Cricket World Cup. PM Modi praised the athletes’ impressive performance. He also mentioned that he had met the Blind Cricket World Cup team, which won at home, just two days earlier. He called their victory “one of the biggest victories in our sporting history.”
“Friends, the most talked-about event is our women’s team winning the Blind Cricket World Cup. The most important thing is that our team won this tournament without losing a single match. Our countrymen are very proud of every player on this team.”
“Just two days ago, I met this team at the Prime Minister’s residence. Truly, the courage and passion of this team teaches us a lot. This victory is one of the greatest victories in our sports history, and it will continue to inspire every Indian,” he added.
