The Likabali Anti Corruption Forum (LACF) on Thursday claimed that funds sanctioned for the construction of Diten to Siberite road in Lower Siang district have been misused.
Addressing media persons at the Arunachal Press Club here, LACF President Liam Taju said that “Rs 25,000,000 has been sanctioned to KGNF for the road work. However, as per the initial letter, the tender work was awarded for Rs 49 lakh.
He alleged that Likabali MLA Cardo Nyagyor was “responsible for misappropriation of public funds under the Social and Infrastructure Development Fund.”
The forum further alleged that funds for the financial year 2023-24 have been misused by the MLA. He further said that the amount sanctioned under SIDF has been used for the construction of security fence and his private land property in Soi. Village in Chikurijo.
It demanded to know “how work worth Rs 25,000,000 was released to the concerned firm.”
Citing an affidavit by Gajar Nyigyor, owner of M/s KGNF Enterprises, the LAPF said the affidavit mentioned that “no close relative of his is posted as a Divisional Accountant or an officer in any capacity.” and claimed that Nyigor “gave false information in the affidavit dated March 11, 2022.”
The forum demanded that, “Until the firm M/s KGNF is cancelled, the amount of work awarded to the firm for undertaking government schemes and projects should be deposited in the government treasury.”
Threatening that it would launch a democratic movement if its demands were not met, the LAPF requested government agencies to “immediately seize the private plot where the Social and Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF) 2023-’24 has been misused.”
LACF general secretary Tegam Chisi and its legal advisor Dugel Nada were also present at the press conference.
